We’ve just learned what’s new for the 2016 BMW 7 Series and trust us, you’ll love the luxuries you can get.
For the 2016 model year, 2 new 7 Series sedans will be offered at our BMW dealership serving Morristown & Edison NJ: 2016 BMW 740i and 2016 BMW 750i xDrive.
No matter which one you choose, you can feel at home in our most spacious sedan offering. So will your passengers, especially those in the back seat.
With that being said, let’s get into some of the innovations you’ll find in the latest 7 Series.
Gesture Control
As a part of the redesigned iDrive 5.0 in-vehicle operating system with touchscreen technology, Gesture Control lets you perform functions like turning the volume up or down & accepting or rejecting incoming calls using pre-selected hand movements. As you can see above, you don’t need to touch the center console. You can even configure a gesture to do functions like deactivating the screen or navigating to your home.
7” Touch Command Tablet
Offered as an optional feature, the new 7” Touch Command Tablet lets you control the infotainment/navigation/communication system and comfort functions including the AC, seat positioning & interior lighting. Selections will then play on one of the rear-seat entertainment system’s 10” screens seen above. The tablet itself can play external audio & video files, go online & act as a gaming console.
Display Key
An all-new feature available for select BMW models, the optional Display Key goes beyond what a typical key fob does. As you can see above, it comes with a touchscreen display that allows you to control functions like unlocking the doors, opening the windows and turning the AC or heat to a predetermined temperature.
Other Key Updates

This new 7 Series model uses a 2.0L BMW TwinPower Turbo engine, eDrive powertrain technology and 8-speed Steptronic transmission to combine performance and gas savings. The navigation system’s route guidance helps you plan the most efficient trip for your vehicle based on your destination.
The driving modes you can pick from in the 740e xDrive include:
- AUTO: ideal for normal driving
- MAX: all-battery mode that lets you drive up to 23 miles & at speeds of up to 75 mph without using gas
