Back in May, BMW ///M Cars celebrated their 20th birthday as the official car of MotoGP. MotoGP is the premier motorcycle racing world championship. It’s an 18-race series that visits 13 countries, four continents and world wild television coverage. Four main manufacturers are apart of this event: Ducati, Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda. Seven nationalities of the world’s most prestigious riders participate in this global event. It’s only appropriate BMW ///M Cars are a part of this .
Six ///M Cars play important roles during race events and track activities. The ///M Cars range from the ///M2, to the all-new ///M5 and even the X5///M. To add to the lineup, BMW Motorrad provided two S 1000 RR motorcycles. These two bikes are used for track surveillance and quick deployment vehicles. Throughout the years, MotoGP and BMW have developed a vert strong connection with each other. A new ///M3 CS was given away as the acclaimed “///M Award”. This award is given to the ride with the best overall qualifying score during the 2018 season.
The official safety cars of MotoGP are the ///M3, ///M4 Coupe and the all-new ///M5. The ///M2 is provided to the Safety Officer and to the Race Director. The X5///M plays one of the most important rolls in these events, the medical car.
