How do you know when your BMW is in need of service? Follow this guide to see if it’s time to bring your BMW into your local service center.
BMW recommends that at least once a year regardless of how few miles you have put on the vehicle to perform an oil change and service check. If you happen to drive your vehicle a lot then, BMW recommends every 10,000 miles you bring your vehicle in for an oil change.
If your BMW is equipped with the latest iDrive System; From the main screen, scroll to ‘Vehicle Information’, then ‘vehicle status’, and then ‘service required’. From this menu, you will be able to scroll through a list of options including things like ‘engine oil’, ‘vehicle check’ , and ‘front brake pads’. Simply select the option you’d like to check and the vehicle will give you a status on the selected option.
If your BMW is not equipped with the iDrive System, you can check your vehicles need for service status by using the instrument cluster located behind your steering wheel. There should be a little button towards the left side of the instrument cluster that you hold in until the menu changes. At the point of the menu change, push the button to cycle through your service options and see which ones are green.
Finally, you are always welcome to bring your vehicle in so that our service department may perform an actual key read on your vehicle to let you know if it is due for service. If you have any questions on checking your vehicle to see if it is due for service, don’t hesitate to give us a call. See you soon!
