The BMW Concept 8 Series has officially been revealed at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Cernobbio CO, Italy and it marks the return to a new era! That’s because this concept sports car showcases how performance and elegance can work together for an amazing luxury car driving experience.
BMW Concept 8 Series Exterior Design
Sculpted to combine the BMW heritage look and what’s to come in the future, the Barcelona Grey Liquid BMW Concept 8 Series features a low and powerful silhouette that gives off a crisp, modern look. The sharply drawn lines, long bonnet and flowing roofline that emphasizes the car's flanks and flaring above the 21” light-alloy rear wheels.
Up front, you’ll find a large kidney grille that takes inspiration from BMW coupes of the past by widening as it extends downwards to bring some character to this sports car. This character is enhanced by large side air intakes with a carbon-fiber element between them, super-slim laser headlights and a hexagonal take on the BMW "twin circular' theme.
The rear of this concept car is bold and creates a low, highly sculpted tail that gives you a width-enhancing effect for a more muscular appearance. Also helping with this look are slim stretched-out L-shaped rear lights that connect to the emphasized flanks, a dark carbon-fiber diffuser low in the rear apron and large trapezoidal exhaust tailpipes.
What’s Inside the BMW Concept 8 Series
The BMW Concept 8 Series interior is a rich blend of dynamics and luxury, though it focuses on the task of driving. When you sit behind the wheel, there's an enclosed sports car ambiance featuring surfaces and lines gravitating forward to emulate the rush of putting the pedal to the metal.
The interior design gives you a fluid transition between the low-visual-focused instrument panel, doors and high center console. All of the driver's contact points with the car's control provide sporty character.
Among the features you can see inside of this concept car are:
- Slim leather sports seats
- Hand-polished aluminum-spoke steering wheel with red-anodized shift paddles
- Dark Brown & Fjord White Merino leather
- Carbon fiber & hand-polished aluminum accent surfaces
- Swarovski glass iDrive Controller with a smoky quartz look
- Faceted ground gearshift lever
A Taste of Things to Come
It is said that the BMW Concept 8 Series was designed to be a preview of an upcoming model: the 2018 BMW 8 Series Coupe.
